Garrett Smith scores podium finish with Hell Tour at Davenport Speedway

Making a trek to the Midwest, Garrett Smith joined the DIRTcar Summer Nationals at Davenport (Iowa) Speedway on Tuesday afternoon for the second week of the Hell Tour.

With a strong field of 38 Late Models signed in, Smith laid down the third-quickest lap in his group before finishing ruuner-up in his heat. Making up three spots in the $5,000-to-win main event, Garrett landed on the podium in third behind Tyler Erb and Kye Blight.

Switching gears to the much slicker Adams County Speedway (Quincy, Ill) on Wednesday, Garrett charged from fourth in his heat race to pick up the victory. Rolling off from the front-row in the 30-lap A-Main, Smith ran inside the Top-5 before pulling off with mechanical issues on lap six.

At Spoon River Speedway (Canton, Ill.) on Thursday, Smith charged from fifth-to-second in his heat race before scoring a Top-5 finish in the $5,000-to-win feature.

For the first $10,000-to-win show of the week, Garrett earned his spot in the Brownstown (Ill.) Bullring A-Main after a runner-up finish in his heat. Starting eighth, Smith faded to the finish outside the Top-15 in 16th.

With the field up to 35 entries on Saturday at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway (Pevely, Mo.), Smith laid down the quickest lap in his qualifying group and followed that up with a heat race victory. Redrawing the No. 3 for the $10,000-to-win main event, Garrett recorded his best run of the week with a podium outing in third.

Wrapping up the week on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway, Smith was an early retiree in the $5,000-to-win feature.
